Grab them by the P****

In a 2016 unedited transcript released by The New York Times, Donald J. Trump said, “Grab them by the p****, you can do anything,” when talking about a married woman he found attractive at a furniture store. With the election on the day this assignment was due, our still life had to do something with the politics happening in our country. So, I based my still life off the quote I read from the New York times transcript. I wanted to photograph an image that represented and reminded people who our current president is: someone that said “grab them by the p****” and has been known to constantly make vulgar comments about women, even making uncomfortable comments about his female family members. In my image, I used a papaya to represent the vagina, the p**** that Trump wanted to grab. I blindfolded my eyes because to Trump, I am nothing but a p****. It also plays off the saying “ignorance is bliss” because if I was the woman Trump was talking about, I would not want to ever hear what he was saying about me. I purposefully picked all neutral clothing to wear and used white walls as my background to draw attention to the vibrant colors and intricate details of the papaya. I am holding the papaya very delicately, because I myself understand that it is one of the beauties of being a woman and I will treasure it. It contrasts the rough nature of Donald J. Trump’s comments about women.
